Men’s College Hockey

Endicott 3,Western New England 3 (OT) –  Jackson Sterrett (Hendersonville, Tenn.) scored the lone tally in the shootout to help Endicott secure two points in the standings. Sterrett beat Western New England’s goalie five-hole on a backhander on the Gulls’ fourth attempt of the night. Collin Kleiser (Churchville, Pa.)Jimmy McIsaac (Winnipeg, Manitoba), and Zach Mazur (Lancaster, N.Y.) all scored in the tie. Endicott (13-4-5, 10-2-3 CCC) visits the University of New England on Friday, February 9 at 7 PM.


Salem State 2, Framingham State 2 (OT)  Ryan Meagher (Boston) netted his first collegiate goal and Hunter Thomas (Schwenksville, PA) saved 49 of 51 shots as Salem State and Framingham State ended in a 2-2 tie in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC)  contest on Saturday night at Loring Arena. The Vikings record now stands at 6-14-1, 6-10-1 while Framingham moves to 8-11-1, 8-8-1 in the season. Salem State will return to Rockett Arena on Thursday, February 9, for “Pride Night” as they take on MCLA for a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) contest. Puck drop is 7:00 pm.

Men’s College Basketball

Salem State 85, Framingham State 75 – Salem State men’s basketball notched their second win of the week this afternoon as they improve to 11-9 overall and 4-4 in conference play. All five Viking starters recorded double-digits in the victory; Jaden Castillo (Lawrence) led the way with 26 points followed by L.J. Hicks (Gardner) who netted 21. Liam Byrne (Melrose) had an all-around game with 12 points, 14 rebounds, and four steals. On the other side, Joshua Saint Jean (Lynn) paced the Rams with 23 points and 12 rebounds while Joshua-Daniel Okafor (Boston) added 17 points of his own in the effort. Michael Makiej (Andover) and Castillo recorded the Vikings first eight points of the game to give Salem the 8-2 edge after just four minutes of action. er, a 6-0 run for the Vikings would halt any momentum from the Rams, as it reclaimed their double-digit advantage (76-64). Martinez would connect on one more deep ball in the final minute to solidify the Vikings 85-75 victory over the Rams. The Vikings are back at home this Wednesday, February 7 when they welcome the Trailblazers from MCLA for their annual pride game. Tipoff is at 7p.m.


Endicott 70, Hartford 61 – Jeff Hill (Lynn) scored 10 of his team-high 14 points in the second stanza to help Endicott erase a six-point Hartford lead at halftime (28-22).Jalen Echevarria (Lynn) added 13 points, while Max Grenert (Beverly) notched 10 points in 15 minutes off the bench (4-7 FG, 2-4 3PT).

Coming out of the break, the Gulls produced a 31-23 run to take the lead for good with 6:47 to play in the contest. Grenert helped spark the spurt with a pair of three-pointers (46-43, 10:30; 51-49, 7:23), while Echevarria and Drew Brown (Pelham, N.H.) poured in five points each. Eight different scorers contributed to the run that featured three lead changes and two ties. Liam Dunfee (Nahant) led the team with seven rebounds, marking his third straight performance with five or more boards. Endicott (13-8) travels to Roger Williams on Tuesday, February 6 at 7:30 PM.


Women’s College Basketball 

Framingham State 75, Salem State 56 – Framingham State University held the Vikings to 18 first-half points. The victory improved the Rams to 19-2 overall and 8-1 in conference play while the loss dropped the Vikings to 9-12 overall and 2-6 in the conference.For the Vikings, Ernidia Goncalves (Everett) remained dominate as she recorded a 24-point, 18- rebound double-double. Teammate, Kylie Gates (Pembroke) added 12 points and six assists in the effort. Flannery O’Connor (Amesbury) and Kelsey Yelle (South Easton) led the Rams with 16 points apiece while grabbing 15 and seven rebounds, respectively. Gwendolyn Carpenter (Ashley Falls, Mass.) dished out a game-high 10 assists in the effort.

The Vikings are back at home on Wednesday, February 7 when they welcome the Trailblazers from MCLA for their annual Pride Game. Tipoff is at 5p.m.


Endicott 89, Hartford 61 – Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) led all scorers with 21 points (8-13 FG, 4-4 FT) along with six boards and five dimes. Libby Fleming (Bangor, Maine) recorded her fifth double-double of the season as she scored 18 points (8-10 FG, 2-3 FT) and grabbed 11 rebounds. Emma Shinney (Wakefield, ) added 16 points while Cora Nadeau (Newport, Vt.) was a fourth started with double-digit points as she went for 13 points. Endicott (12-8, 7-5 CCC) visits Roger Williams on Tuesday, February 6 at 5:30 PM.
