Moulton Names Jeremy Joseph as Chief of Staff

Joseph brings experience as Marine veteran, advisor to Vice President Biden, and national service leader

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA) named Marine veteran and national service leader Jeremy Joseph as his Chief of Staff. Joseph joins the staff this week and will be based in Moulton’s Washington D.C. office.

“I am proud of all my team has done to serve the Sixth District over the past two years, and I look forward to moulton-josephcontinuing to work hard on behalf of our community,” said Moulton. “I am incredibly grateful that Jeremy will take on the task of leading our office as we continually improve our services, drive innovation into government, and stand up for our values. Jeremy’s background and experience, including his service as a Marine and as deputy counsel to Vice President Joe Biden, demonstrate his commitment to the policies and values I came to Washington to promote and protect. Jeremy will bring extraordinary leadership skills to this role, and his perspective on issues facing hard-working families, his government and private sector experience, and service to our country will make him a great asset to our team. I look forward to working with him to serve the Sixth District of Massachusetts.”

“I am honored to join Congressman Moulton and his team as we continue to fight for the issues that matter to our community and work to promote economic opportunity and security in the district,” said Joseph. “In his first term, Rep. Moulton succeeded in rising above partisan gridlock for families, veterans, and on critical matters of national security. On tough issues, Rep. Moulton demonstrated strong leadership and moral courage to do the right thing, even when it was difficult. I am proud to join this outstanding team and look forward to serving the Sixth District.”

Joseph graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in government and earned his law degree at Georgetown University Law Center. During his service in the Marine Corps, Joseph led intelligence operations for deployed Marine and Navy forces in the Middle East and served as a liaison to the U.S. Senate. As an attorney in private practice, Joseph advised Fortune 500 companies and government contractors. Joseph returned to public service in 2013 as Deputy Counsel to Vice President Joe Biden where he was engaged on a number of policy issues, including the Administration’s efforts to support working families, gun violence prevention, labor unions, and voting rights. In 2015, Joseph was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve as General Counsel at the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). CNCS is a $1.1 billion federal grant-making agency that powers AmeriCorps and the Social Innovation Fund programs all across the country.

He lives in Washington, D.C. with his wife and two young daughters.

Groveland Fire Department Extinguishes Two-Alarm House Fire

GROVELAND – Chief Robert Lay reports that the Groveland Fire Department extinguished a two-alarm house fire this morning.

At 7:49 a.m., the Groveland Fire Department received a report of a house fire at a residence on Sunset Circle, across from 908 Salem St.

Groveland and Georgetown firefighters arrived to the ranch, wood frame home, which is under construction and the only residence on the new road.

Crews were met with heavy smoke and heat inside the house, and were initially led by Georgetown Deputy Fire Chief Rusty Ricker on the interior attack.

Shortly thereafter, a second alarm was ordered, and the Boxford and West Newbury fire departments arrived to assist, while the Haverhill and Merrimac fire departments covered the Groveland stations.

Further entry into the home revealed that the fire had destroyed a large portion of the first floor, with extension into the basement.

Crews had the fire was under control by 8:39 a.m., but remained on scene until 11:45 a.m. putting out hot spots and overhauling the interior.

No injuries were reported and no one was inside the home at the time of the fire.

The home sustained extensive structural, heat and smoke damage.

“This fire was well extended prior to our arrival,” Chief Lay said. “It was a difficult fire to fight based on where it was located in the structure, but crews did a great job making an aggressive interior attack to put out the fire as quickly as possible.”

The origin of the fire remains under investigation by the Groveland Fire Department and the State Fire Marshal’s Office.

“We have no reason to believe that this fire was the result of suspicious activity,” Chief Lay said. “After an initial investigation, we believe the cause of the fire to be accidental.”
