Due to a technical issue she stopped by Beechbrook Studio again few days later to re-record her newest song “Rise Up.” We decided to go a step further and add a bass track by Unfinished Music host Greg Verga and guitar by John Hicks.

A bit about Annette:

Annette Dion has been writing songs since the 1990s. In 1991 she relocated from where she grew up in Gloucester, MA to Nashville, TN to submerge herself in the songwriting culture that is “Music City, USA.”

Annette plays guitar, harmonicas, piano and sings her own music. In 2012 she released the CD “I Feel You,” which is available on Amazon.com.

Since the early days she was influenced by the folk/rock movement of the 60s and 70s. She credits Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, to name a few, for giving her the total inspiration and motivation to “do what they were doing.” Annette feels strongly that music can be a powerful catalyst for change. Thus, several of her songs have been cited as “anthems,” with lyrics containing specific social messages written with bringing change to our world in mind.

With the help of an investor and friend, in 2009 she started work on her CD locally. Then, in a serendipitous turn of events she found herself back in Nashville, working in a then world-renowned studio with Chad Hailey, who had engineered Neil Young’s “Prairie Wind.” Chad helped her to bring in musicians who had worked extensively with Grammy-award winning celebrities. Thus, Annette’s CD has the added bonus of some of the best talent in the industry showcasing as her band.Annette talking

After a 5-year hiatus Annette is slowly beginning to re-emerge onto the music scene.
“In fact,” she says, “after all that has been going on in this country, a new song finally emerged last week. It was cathartic!” The title? “Rise Up”

It’s appropriate. You can’t keep an artist down.
