North Shore Navigators Players Earn Weekly College Honors
LYNN – Two pitchers are returning to the Navigators and one newcomer to the team’s 2017 roster were named Pitchers of the Week in their respective Division III conferences:
Josh Partridge is a new face from a familiar place for Navs fans, coming from Great Northeast Athletic Conference power Saint Joseph’s College of Maine, where Nick Malatesta ―
a member of last year’s Navs pitching staff ― is his current teammate. The junior lefty from Deerfield, N.H., was outstanding from the Monks’ bullpen this past week, recording nine strikeouts in 8.2 scoreless innings. He factored into two wins in three appearances, throwing 3.2 innings in a Thursday win over Rhode Island College and three more to earn a save the following day against Salve Regina. Partridge was also named to D3 Baseball’s Team of the Week. A Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Player to Watch this preseason, Partridge was named to the All-GNAC Third Team in 2016.
After jumping into the starting rotation as a late addition to last summer’s Navs, Bobby Tramondozzi has tossed up zeroes through his first four innings of the season for UMass Boston and earned a win and a save this week in Florida. The Little East Conference Pitcher of the Week threw a scoreless frame to earn the save Friday against DeSales before striking out four over two innings to lift the Beacons past Rowan in 11 innings.
Fellow Navs veteran Al Wallach earned the nod in the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference after an impressive first start to his junior season for Framingham State. Last Tuesday against Plymouth State, Wallach allowed just four hits, one unearned run and one walk while striking out nine.
Additionally, 2014-15 Navigator Ryan McAuliffe was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week after his effort in St. John’s University’s tenth win of the season last Sunday against Western Carolina. McAuliffe carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning of the 9-1 victory and finished his seven-inning outing with seven strikeouts, allowing just two hits and an unearned run. The Red Storm are currently ranked in two national Division I polls.
