Marblehead Headed to Super Bowl – Topping North Reading 28-7 to Advance

MARBLEHEAD – Quarterback Drew Gally and running back Jaason Lopez led Marblehead (10-0) to an opening 16 play, 80 yard touchdown drive with Lopez scoring from 4 yards out that gave the Magicians a 6-0 lead with 5:07 left in the first quarter, and they never looked back.

As North Reading (9-2) threatened to tie the game or go ahead with a first and goal at the Marblehead 4 yard line late in the first half, the Hornets turned the ball over with 1:11.  Starting from his own 11, Gally connected on 7 of 8 passes to cover 89 yards in 51 seconds ending the drive with a 22 yard scoring strike to Manning Sears that gave Marblehead a 14-0 lead at the half.

The second half  belonged to Marblehead running back Sam Frontiero who was filling in for a hobbled Lopez.  Frontiero scored twice in the third quarter to up the lead to 28-0 after 3.

Harry Craig was a force as a receiver.

Matt McCarthy scored the lone North Reading touchdown on a 7 yard run with 6:12 left in the game.

The Magicians outgained the Hornets overall, 300 to 113
