MSO Radio OnDemand: Hamilton-Wenham Opens with 21-0 Football Win over Bishop Fenwick – Post Game Video

HAMILTON –  (Audio, Video) The Hamilton-Wenham Generals used a tough defense and touchdowns from three different players to shut out the Bishop Fenwick Crusaders in the Division 6 football opener for both schools.  Senior wide receiver Jake Lanciani scored the opening touchdown on a 29 yard pass from junior quarterback Billy Whelan (9 for 11 for 161 yards passing) with 1:12 left in the first quarter to cap a 7 play, 70 yard drive.

With 1:20 left in the first half senior running back Andrew Riccio punched in a 6-yard against-the-grain touchdown that completed a 6 play, 83 yard drive to give the Generals the lead at the half, 14-0.

Whelan scored the final touchdown with 6:22 remaining in the third quarter on a 2 yard scramble that finished off a 9 play, 53 yard drive.

Senior captain Cam Peach added all 3 PATS, and he and senior captain Phil Durgin were among many players praised by Coach Jim Pugh after the game.

Fenwick star quarterback Corey Bright played only the first quarter, and the Crusaders lost another starter in the third due to a disqualification.

Hamilton-Wenham outgained Bishop Fenwick, 279 to 164
