Detectives Investigate Drowning of East Boston Man at Breakheart Reservation in Saugus

Saugus Police and Emergency Services responded to Breakheart Reservation this morning for a reported drowning.  A 35-year-old East Boston male was found submerged in the water near the rocks where he was trying to exit the water.  He was pulled out and taken to Melrose-Wakefield Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  He was swimming with his 8-year-old son and 9-year-old nephew who were unharmed.  The area where they were swimming is unguarded and “No Swimming” signs are posted.

Detectives assigned to the Essex District Attorney’s Office are investigating, as is standard for all unattended deaths.  No foul play is suspected.
