MIAA SPRING POWER RANKINGS

In high school baseball…Hamilton-Wenham lost its first game of the year yesterday ending the regular season at 19-1. Georgetown’s Ty Southhall belted a two-run home run in the first inning and the Royals got strong pitching from Shawn Riley for a 2-1 win over the Generals.

The Beverly girls lacrosse team won the Northeastern Conference title this spring going 13-0 in league play. Yesterday they topped Gloucester, 20-5 as sophomore Ashley Wallace scored four goals to lead the Panthers.

The Beverly boys lacrosse team was a 16-4 winner over Gloucester with senior captain Will Burgess netting six goals in the game. Swampscott edged Masconomet 9-8. Luke Michigan led the Big Blue winning 16 of 20 faceoffs. Colton Alex was solid in net with 10 huge saves. In the end, John von Barta had the game winning shot from the outside to seal the win. Swampsoctt secured a spot in the MIAA tournament with the win.

In pro sports, The Red Sox beat the Royals 7-1 last night, the two teams play again tonight in Kansas City.

City of Gloucester 
This Memorial Day, join the us as we remember and honor those who served.
The Cape Ann Office of Veterans Services, the City of Gloucester, and the United Veterans Council cordially invite you to join us in observance of Memorial Day 2026. Services will be observed Monday, May 25 beginning at 9:00 AM at the Gloucester High School Auditorium. This years ceremony will honor the lives of five men lost to the detriments of Agent Orange Herbicide Exposure. We will also recognize their surviving spouses, and family members honoring their enduring strength and sacrifice.
Gloucester Police – TRAFFIC ADVISORY – BASS AVENUE PAVING PROJECT UPDATE🚧
Final finishing touches are being completed overnight, and residents will be waking up to a newly improved roadway and sidewalks.
A big thank you to Mike Hale for helping get this project moving forward, and to Mike Nocella and crew for their hard work
and dedication in getting it completed before the busy tourist season.
The overnight work helped keep inconvenience to residents, businesses, and visitors to a minimum while improving safety, accessibility, and the overall look of the area.
Masconomet Boys Track and Field
Tim Lull established a new school record in the 400m with a time of 49.36s and brings home the Silver Medal

HW Athletic Contests: Week of May 18th

Next week marks the last week of the Regular Season and that can only mean one thing.  Championship Season is about to descend on HW.
Tournament pairings for the following sports will be announced next week:
  • Girls Lacrosse – Friday, May 22nd
  • Boys Tennis – Friday, May 22nd
  • Girls Tennis – Friday, May 22nd
Other Sports (Baseball, Boys Lacrosse, and Softball) will be announced the following week.
  • Track & Field will travel to Pentucket Regional High School on Saturday, May 23rd to compete in the CAL Championships.  The meet time is set for 10:00 AM.  Ticketing information will follow in the coming days.
