‘Tis the Season: Lobster Trap Menorah & Lobster Trap Christmas Tree in Gloucester

Lobster Trap Menorah and TreeGLOUCESTER – In what has now become a December tradition in the city of Gloucester, two iconic symbols of the season have been re-displayed using real lobster traps.  At the Temple Ahavat Achim on Middle Street, the Lobster Trap Menorah was lit with its first “candle” turned on at a public gathering on December 8.  This marks the second year in a row the Lobster Trap Menorah has been lit.  Earlier, the Lobster Trap Christmas Tree was built on the Gloucester Courthouse plaza during the weekend of December 4 in downtown Gloucester.  This Saturday, December 12 at 4:30 p.m., the kids of Art Haven (that sponsors the tree) will finish the decorating at the Tree Lighting Ceremony, and of course, the public is welcome.
