Scam Alert: Any Local Business Owners Please Beware
It has come to my attention that a group of men calling from Texas area codes have been contacting local Wakefield businesses over the past few days, claiming that they are fundraising on behalf of the Wakefield Memorial High School Athletics Department. These men are asking for donations from local Wakefield businesses in return for advertisement space on school items such as T-shirts, cups, banners, mini basketballs, etc. The men are going by the names of Alec and Josh, and have claimed to be from fundraising companies called “Boost Sports” AKA “Touchdown Sports”. They are calling from phone numbers 972-787-0145 and 972-787-0031. I have Google searched their phone numbers and company names, and it appears that these companies have been linked to similar scams like this all over the country!

Please do not be fooled by them! These men are in no way affiliated or associated with Wakefield Memorial High School. However, these men are claiming to be “working with” our school, insinuating that Wakefield HS has contracted them out. Again, please do not be fooled! Local law enforcement agencies have been notified of this, as well as the Lynnfield-Wakefield Chamber of Commerce. If you are a business owner and you ever come across anything suspicious like this in the future, please do not hesitate to contact the Wakefield High School Athletic Department at 781-246-6458, or email Brendan.Kent@wpsk12.org.
