Navigators Lose 9-3 / Now 0-5
Worcester, MA – The North Shore Navigators fell to the Worcester Bravehearts Thursday morning at Fitton Field in Worcester by the final score of 9-3. With the loss, the Navigators are now 0-5 on the young season.
Navs starter Bobby Tramondozzi (UMass Boston) struggled on the mound today as he couldn’t get through four innings and was pulled after giving up four runs (three earned) on five hits. The defense didn’t help the cause as the Navigators combined for a total of four errors.
On the other side, Bravehearts starter Jack Hodgson (Boston College) pitched five strong innings giving up two runs on four hits while striking out seven Navs.
The Bravehearts came with their hot bats today as the team scored nine runs on eight hits. Joseph Caico (University of New Heaven) led the way with three hits while driving in two runs and scoring three times. His teammate Derek Adamson also had two hits and drove in three runs in the win.
Despite the loss, the Navigators offense offered a few sparks today. The Navs combined to get a total of seven hits while newcomer Tyler Kapuscinski (Marist) made a great first impression with two of those hits. However, the team couldn’t get the key hits at the right time as they left a total of ten runners on base.
It’s a 56-game season and sometimes the top teams take a bit to get going. The North Shore Navigators have proven this several times over the past couple seasons, including last season when John Zizzo’s squad started the season 1-12 but then went on to finish above .500 and qualified for post-season play.
The Navigators return to action Friday as they travel to Campanelli Stadium when they play the Brockton Rox. The Navs return to Fraser Field on Saturday evening when they play host to the Nashua Silver Knights. First pitch is schedule for 6 p.m.
