Saugus Mother Pleads Guilty to Child Rape – Update From District Attorney’s Office

SALEM – A Saugus mother pleaded guilty today to raping two boys and sharing nude photographs of herself with them in 2014.  Heather Salines, 40, pleaded guilty to 2 counts of child rape, 2 counts of child enticement, 2 counts of dissemination of obscene matter to a minor and 1 count of indecent assault & battery on a person 14 years old or older.

Judge Mary K. Ames sentenced her to 4 years in state prison followed by 3 years of probation during which she must be monitored by a GPS bracelet, stay away from and have no contact with the victims, have no unsupervised contact with children under 16 years old and register as a sex offender.

Had the case gone to trial, Essex Assistant District Attorney Kate MacDougall would have introduced evidence that would have proved that in February 2014, the defendant accosted one of the victims, who was 14 at the time, while he was a guest in her home.  She called him to her bedroom, removed her bra and began to kiss and fondle him.  She repeatedly asked to perform oral sex on him.  After he left her home, she barraged him with texts messages which included naked photographs of herself.  This victim did not respond to the texts or return to her home.

In March of 2014, the defendant then began to exchange texts with another victim, who was 15 at the time.  These texts included naked photographs of herself as well.  The defendant engaged in oral and natural intercourse with this victim on two occasions, including once at the Doubletree Hotel on the Danvers/Middleton line, during which the defendant and victim took a “selfie” while in bed there.  Police were alerted when officials at the Belmonte Middle learned of the explicit images of the defendant on the victim’s phone.

“These actions are beyond despicable,” said District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.  “This defendant took advantage of her position as a trusted adult and betrayed that trust in a most vile way.”

ADA MacDougall thanked Danvers Sergeant Phil Tansey and Robert Sullivan of Danvers, Saugus Detective Sean Moynihan and the Middleton Police.

Essex Victim Advocate Kathy Draper also assisted with the case.

The defendant was represented by Attorney Will Korman.
