PLNR Hockey Notches 1-0 Win Over Winchester – Catie Kampersal with the Game’s Only Goal

PEABODY (Video – Photos) The game featured up and down playoff hockey with plenty of scoring chances for both teams. However, in the end there was just one goal scored in the game and one goaltender needed to deliver a shutout performance in order to win the game. #9 seeded Peabody (PLNR) opened the MIAA D1 playoffs Wednesday night with a 1-0 win over #25 seeded Winchester. Peabody’s goal was scored at 6:22 of the first period by Catie Kampersal with an assist coming from Abby McInerney. Both goaltenders played well but it was Peabody’s Alyse Mutti who turned in a shutout performance in the net to secure the win. Winchester goaltender Molly Hillier also played well in nets. As for shots on goal. Winchester outshot Peabody (31-17).
