Newbury and West Newbury Fire Departments Respond to Single-Vehicle Crash on I-95

NEWBURY — Chief Nathan Walker and Chief Michael Dwyer report that the Newbury and West Newbury Fire Departments responded to a single-vehicle crash on I-95 yesterday.

On Sunday, Sept. 11 at approximately 2:13 p.m., Newbury and West Newbury Fire were dispatched to Route 95 where a car had crashed into a tree on the southbound side of the highway near the Newbury and West Newbury town line.

A male victim, the sole occupant of the vehicle, had to be rescued by firefighters using the Jaws of Life. He was taken by medical helicopter to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Massachusetts State Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
