“K2P1: FIBER ART AND PRINTS BY EMMA OLIVER” / ON VIEW AT ABBOT PUBLIC LIBRARY
FEBRUARY 5TH THROUGH FEBRUARY 28TH  (MARBLEHEAD) According to artist Emma Oliver, “There’s a wonderful routine in making fiber art and
printmaking. Both processes are almost robotic in nature, and the patterns used create wonderful
work.” The exhibit, “K2P1” (i.e., Knit 2, Purl 1), on view in the Abbot Public Library’s Carten
Gallery, from Sunday, February 5th, through Tuesday, February 28th, deals with these processes
in the forms of sculptures and wall-hung prints. The work revolves around the artist’s
relationships with her friends, family, and with political society, speaking as a woman. In a
sense, each work is a self-portrait, with personal details in each piece.A Marblehead native, Emma Oliver is a BFA and education student at Alfred University, in
upstate New York. She works primarily in sculpture, print, and textile work. Her work is
typically very serious with the guise of being light and funny. She plans to teach middle school
or high school art, when she finishes her degree, as well as work heavily on her own art practice.

The Abbot Public Library is located at 235 Pleasant Street, Marblehead, MA 01945. For
