IPSWICH RIVER WILDLIFE SANCTUARY NATURE PRESCHOOL OPEN HOUSE NOVEMBER 19

WENHAM —Mass Audubon’s Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary Nature Preschool is hosting an open house to give parents an opportunity to tour its facility and grounds in Wenham and meet the director and teaching staff on Saturday, November 19, 9:30 a.m. to noon, at Endicott Wildlife Sanctuary, 346 Grapevine Road, Wenham.

Enrollment is underway for the 2017-2018 school year.

The Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary Nature Preschool is open to children ages 3-5, and offers:

* Highly qualified teachers with backgrounds in early childhood and nature education;

* Nature-based, emergent curriculum promoting language, math, and social development;

* Beautiful classrooms, outdoor play areas, and gardens;

* Two-, three-, and five-day enrollment options from 9:00 am to noon each day;

* Options for early morning drop-off at 8:00 a.m. and “lunch bunch” until 1:00 p.m.;

* NEW – Now offering an extended day option until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

At the open house, parents will be able to tour the facilities and meet Preschool Director Karen First and the teaching staff. The preschool is in its second year of operation, and has been met with a very positive response from the community. While spending a substantial amount of time outdoors during the fall, children enthusiastically harvested vegetables from raised beds, explored the new public walking trail on the property, and built shelters and cedar block structures in the outdoor play area. Trees, insects, birds, and the changing seasons are all topics that teachers used to provide an engaging context for early childhood math, literacy, and social learning.

Ipswich River Youth Education Manager Kim LoGrasso said, “We have met families from all over the North Shore who share our vision that a child’s innate sense of joy and wonder is nurtured by meaningful and frequent time spent outdoors. Our teachers are passionate about creating inquiry-based learning experiences for young children.”
