GROSSACK ARRAIGNED FOR MURDER / Statement District Attorney’s Office

David Grossack, 47, was arraigned on one count of first degree murder today in Lynn District Court.  Judge Albert Conlon ordered him held without bail.

Essex Assistant District Attorney Karen Hopwood told the court that on December 29, 2016 the Lynn Police were notified of a death at 40 Newhall Street.  The decedent, Kathleen Burgess, 56, had been found dead by her adult daughter.  The daughter had checked on her mother after having not heard from her for approximately 10 days.  She found her mother, deceased on the apartment floor, covered up with blankets and sheets.

The daughter told responding officers that her mother’s boyfriend David Grossack had been staying at the apartment with Burgess at times.

Investigators found Burgess’ body to be in state of decomposition.    Due to this decomposition, investigators were unable to determine if Burgess had sustained any injuries, but did observe some trauma to her head.  Evidence at the scene indicated that there may have been a struggle.  The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later ruled Burgess’ death a homicide by manner of blunt force trauma with multiple facial fractures.

Investigators made numerous efforts to locate and speak to Grossack but were unsuccessful.  It was later learned that Grossack had been living in various homeless shelters in the Boston area.  Grossack was providing the shelters with different aliases from fraudulent identification cards.

On March 28, 2017, Grossack was arrested on outstanding unrelated warrants by the Pittsfield Police Department.  During the booking process, the defendant provided information to police that was consistent with evidence found at the scene.

Mr. Grossack is represented by Attorney Denise Regan and is presumed innocent until proven guilty.  A probable cause hearing is scheduled for May 4, 2017.

Moulton: “I urge the United States to apply all available sanctions on North Korea and push China to enforce existing sanctions.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congress passed a bipartisan resolution condemning North Korea’s development of multiple intercontinental ballistic missiles and calling on the United States to apply all available economic sanctions on North Korea. Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA), an original co-sponsor on the resolution, released the following statement:

“The United States will not stand for North Korea’s dangerous and illegal missile testing. This resolution sends a strong, bipartisan message to both North Korea and to our allies that these actions have consequences. I urge the Administration to apply all available sanctions to North Korea and push China to enforce existing sanctions as well.”

As Chinese President Xi Jinping prepares to visit the United States and meet with President Trump this week, Moulton will closely monitor the Administration’s response to North Korea’s destabilizing and provocative actions to ensure our allies are supported and our nation is kept safe.
