Newburyport: The Mayor’s Corner March 22, 2024

NEWBURYPORT – Lots of great info in this week’s Mayor’s Corner. Tonight is the Annual Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce Legislative Dinner over at the Blue Ocean starting at 5:30pm. This is a great opportunity to hear directly from the local leaders of Amesbury, Newburyport and Salisbury. The Rec Center at 59 Low St was vetted in another meeting of the City Council’s Community Services Committee where they focused on the site and finances of the project. The Mayor also gives updates on other projects currently under construction like the Bulkhead, Market Landing Park and West End Fire Station. Outdoor dining will be back to downtown towards the end of April and DPS is preparing for the street work that will be taking place around the city. The NHS production of Legally Blonde was fantastic. Three shows remain Thursday and Friday night at 7pm and a Saturday show at 2pm. The Bresnahan and Molin Schools launched their Readathon on March 18th. This is a fundraiser for the Newburyport PTO and ends with a fun parade at the end of the month. Staying on books, the Friends of the Newburyport Public Library is hosting their semi-annual Great Old Book Sale at the Library this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Come pick up a book for a great cause!
