MSO Radio OnDemand: NEC Opener – Big First Quarter Seals 35-14 Win for Marblehead

PEABODY – Marblehead’s senior quarterback Josh Robertson (10 for 16, 152 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT) threw for 2 touchdowns (44 yd to James Doody, 25 yd to Zander Danforth) and and ran 5 yd for another that gave the Magicians an insurmountable 21-0 after the first quarter against the Peabody Tanners (1-3).  The Magicians (4-0) added a George Percy 3 yd TD in early in the second quarter, building the lead to 27-0, before Peabody quarterback Shea Lynch  (12-28 for 159 yd and 2 TD) fired a TD pass to Jovante Daily (22 yd) to end the first and a 47 yd strike to Eli Batista to open the third, cutting the lead to 27-14.

A turnover short-circuited the Peabody comeback; and Marblehead capitalized with a 25 yd touchdown run by George Percy.  A 2-pt pass play from Robertson to Connor Cronin ended the scoring, making it a 35-14 final.

Marblehead totaled 275 yds of offense from scrimmage, and Peabody finished with 215 yds of offense.

The Tanners host Swampscott next Friday while Marblehead travels to Masconomet.
