Moynihan Lumber Male Student Athlete For the Month, Marcelo Rocha Peabody High School

NORTH SHORE – (Radio Interview For excellence both in the classroom and athletic endeavors, cross country star Marcelo Rocha of Peabody Veterans Memorial High School has been named Moynihan Lumber Student-Athletes of the Month for November.

Marcelo, who is also a junior, is one of the top runners in his age group in all the Northeast. After a 10th place finish at the recent Regional Foot Locker qualifiers in New York, he’ll be running at Foot Locker Nationals this weekend in California. The Salem News Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year won the Northeastern Conference championship (15:37), breaking the course record at Bradley Palmer State Park in the process. He also broke his own record at the Peabody High course (13:57), won the Bay State and Frank Kelly Invitationals and ran a terrific time of 15:41 at the Division 1 Eastern Mass. race. The Tanners’ team MVP was also second at All-States (15:27). Marcelo is ranked ninth in his Peabody High class of 426 students and owns a grade point average of 3.9. He is a class officer as well.
