Kernwood Country Club’s Aidan Emmerich won the 118th Massachusetts Amateur golf title this past weekend in the event played at the Winchester Country Club. Emmerich is 22 years old and lives in Swampscott and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 2022.
Newburyport High School will be adding girls golf as a varsity sports this coming school year.
The Gloucester Times has named Gloucester High baseball player Nico Alves as their Spring Sports Male Player of the Year. Alves had an excellent season as a pitcher and hittle and was also named the Northeastern Conference MVP
The North Shore Navigators beat Bristol 8-2 yesterday, the Navs are off tonight.
The Red Sox scored two runs in the 9th inning to tie the Mets 2-2 to send yesterday’s game to extra innings. The Sox then won the game 3-2 in the 10th inning for their 9th straight win. The Major League Baseball All-Star game is tomorrow night.
Heat Advisory!
The U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a heat advisory for 11AM Tuesday 7/14/26 – 8PM Wednesday 7/15/26.
While we know the harbor helps us here in Gloucester avoid some of the higher temperatures, the heat index values are still high, so make sure to stay safe when outside.
Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and be aware that prolonged exposure to high temperatures can cause heat related illnesses.
