LYNN – (Radio – Video – Photos) The city of Lynn DPW launched a program called the “Recycling IQ Kit” last month that will run for 16 weeks, ending in early October. Julia Greene, the city’s recycling coordinator, shares information on the plan that has been funded through a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection. (MassDEP) In the radio interview (below) she shares background on the initiative that includes educating Lynn residents on how to improve and increase their recycling efforts and reduce trash amounts. Today the team saw improvements in their monitoring area. There was a 72% set out rate with 373 carts, which is up from last time. The team rejected 100 carts, 36 were repeat offenders. Still, 47 fewer carts were rejected than last time, so the rejection rate fell from 43% of carts to 27% of carts. The team did 11 interventions.
