High School Football Radio OnDemand: Danvers 22, Peabody 7 (Video OnDemand Available Saturday)

DANVERS – The Danvers Falcons (4-1 in the NEC North, 6-1 overall)  defeated the Peabody Tanners (2-3, 3-4) tonight at Doctor Deering Stadium by a score of 22 to 7.  After a scoreless first quarter, senior receiver Taj Coakely scored on a 41 yard touchdown pass from senior Dean Borders (6 for 10 passing for 86 yards, 8 carries, 71 yards on the ground) that gave the Falcons a 7-0 lead with 2:49 left in the first half.  After stopping Peabody on 3 downs, the Falcons scored 78 seconds later as Borders ripped off a 55 yd td on a quarterback keeper, making it 14-0 with 1:31 left in the half.

Peabody grabbed the ensuing kickoff on their own 48 and went 52 yards on 5 plays with senior QB Matt D’Amato diving in from the one. With 21 seconds left in the half, Peabody had cut the score to 14-7.

Danvers sealed the deal in 2nd half, when the Falcons drove 81 yards in 18 plays and had the ball for over 10 minutes.  The drive was finished off with a 1 yard td run from Matt Andreas (31 carries, 142 yards) with 8:13 left in the fourth quarter.

Danvers outgained Peabody 264 to 81 in total yards and ran 81 plays to Peabody’s 33.
