Gloucester Boys Hockey Opens Season Tonight With 7-3 Win Over Beverly – Two Gloucester Senior Captains Injured – Broadcast OnDemand

Gloucester – (Radio) The Gloucester Fishermen (1-0) solidified their lead over the Beverly Panthers (0-1) tonight with a 3-goal third period  to win the season opener, 7 to 3.  The Fishermen got goals from 6 different players, including 2 by senior forward Ethan Brennan to seal the win.  Gloucester lost its top two scoring players from a year ago to injury during the game.  Senior Liam Lyons was hurt in the second period (shoulder injury) and senior Sal Costanzo was hurt early in the third (unspecified injury).  Neither player returned to action.

Beverly’s first line of Steve Hallinan, Tim McCarthy, and Andrew Mezza, along with its second line of Anthony D’Amato, Conor Hanlon, and Ryan Munzing kept the pressure on Gloucester goalie Max Churchill all night with Mezza tallying two goals.
