Marblehead Football Puts Away Wakefield in Second Half – Winning 34-13 – Magicians Improve to 2-0

WAKEFIELD – (OnDemand Video; OnDemand Radio) Leading 13-7 at the half, thanks to 2 Jason Lopez touchdowns (15 yds, 67 yds) sandwiched around a a 10-yard touchdown by Wakefield’s Joe Marinaccio, Marblehead  ripped for 21 second half points to win, 34-13.  Marblehead senior quarterback Drew Gally had his hand in all three second-half scores, throwing a 10 yard touchdown pass to Derek Marino to start the third period, a 26 yard touchdown pass to Harry Craig to start the fourth, and scoring himself from 5 yards out with 5:41 left in the game.  Marinaccio had Wakefield’s other score, a 15 yard touchdown run with 1:21 left in the third quarter to cut the Marblehead lead to 19-13, but Gally took over after that.

Sophomore quarterback Mike Lucey led the Warriors on a number of offensive drives with critical plays on several third and long and fourth and long situations.

Lopez finished with 114 yards on 9 carries.  The Magicians totaled 336 yards on offense and allowed only 110 yards on defense.

Marblehead improves to 2-0 while Wakefield is at 0-2.
