High School Girls Soccer Report: Hamilton-Wenham 3, Ipswich 0

(From Generals coach Nancy Waddell)
HW 3, Ipswich 0

The Generals had control of the ball for a good portion of the first half, but couldn’t find the back of the net.  The Tigers held strong until the final few seconds of the half.  Senior forward Claire Nistl took a long pass from junior defender Chloe Gern, and Nistl shot for the far post and put the Generals on the scoreboard.

Just four minutes into the second half, the Generals got on the board again when junior midfielder Ella Schenker got off a shot following lots of deflected shot attempts on a corner kick.  With under four minutes to go, the Generals scored their third goal.  Senior Meryn DeSimone scored her first Varsity goal of her career with an assist to senior midfielder Jane Maguire.

Sophomore goalie Stewart Bernard made a spectacular save when one of the Ipswich forwards got through the defense.  The save preserved her first Varsity shutout.

The Generals (2-0) will face Lynnfield on the road on Monday.
