Gloucester Mayor Fires Chief Campanello

GLOUCESTER – Gloucester Mayor Sefatia Romeo-Theken announced that Police Chief Leonard Campanello’s contract with the city has been terminated due to alleged misconduct.  At a 3:30 p.m. press conference at City Hall, Romeo-Theken said that the chief had allegedly destroyed evidence by deleting content from a city-issued cellphone and that she had lost confidence in him.

Romeo-Theken also alleged that a woman the chief was in a relationship with complained to officials about his conduct; and officials investigated a complaint from another woman about Campanello’s conduct toward a third woman.
