Gloucester Fire Extinguishes House Fire

GLOUCESTER — The Gloucester Fire Department extinguished a house fire that was determined to be caused by a grill on Friday night.

 

At about 9 p.m. on Friday, May 15, Gloucester Fire was dispatched to a two-story, single-family home at 6 Fuller Lane for report of a fire.

 

First responders on scene quickly declared a working fire.

 

Multiple residents in the area were using garden hoses to attempt to put the fire out. Gloucester Fire took control of operations, and by 9:06 p.m., the fire was knocked down.

 

Gloucester Fire crews determined that the fire had started with a propane grill in the back of the home, which then spread to the rear of the house. While battling the fire, crews opened up the ceilings and walls adjacent to the area of the fire and found that it had extended into the building.

 

Crews simultaneously checked to ensure the fire had not extended into the attic and upper floors. No additional extension was found.

 

The home sustained minor damage. Gloucester’s Building and Electrical Inspectors responded on scene, and determined the home was safe for occupancy.

 

One resident sustained minor burn injuries. There were no other reported injuries to residents or fire crews.
