LYNN – (Video & Photos) Gloucester baseball defeated Marblehead 5-1 Wednesday night at Fraser Field sending the Fishermen to the MIAA D2 North Championship game sometime later this week. Gloucester scored single runs in the first, fourth, and sixth innings and scored twice in the fifth inning. Marblehead’s only run on an infield misplay. Marc Phinney pitched a complete game win allowing only three hits. Gloucester got multiple hit performances from Matt Heckman, Eric Chalmers, and Jack Sperry. Gloucester will play the winner of Thursday’s Danvers vs. Burlington game in the D2 North Final, date and time has not been set at this time. Marblehead’s Tom Rocket had two hits and got on base three times in the game.
