In high school softball…It was Beverly 20, Salem 1…Panther freshman pitcher Mia Moschell earned the win on the mound as Beverly now stands at 6-7 on the season. In the Cape Ann League, the battle this week between the league’s two division leaders…Georgetown and Pentucket…went to Georgetown when they beat the Panthers 10-3. The Royals are now 11-0 on the season. Their pitcher Maddie Grant stuckout 10 Pentucket batters and she has now struckout over 700 batters in her career
In boys lacrosse, Marblehead 15, Gloucester 3…Will Kinahan, Landon Dosch, and Tyler Forbes each scored four goals for the Magicians. It was Swampscott 15, Peabody 5 with John Von Barta scoring six times for the Big Blue; St. John’s Prep downed Malden Catholic 14-1.
Girls lacrosse, Marblehead 16, Gloucester 4…Zoe Dwyer scored 5 goals and added 3 assists to lead the Magicians.
In pro sports…The Rays beat the Red Sox 8-4 last night…the series resumes tonight at Fenway Park at 7:10.

The City of Gloucester’s Public Service applications just opened. These funds come from the federal office of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program. They can be used for public services that benefit low- and moderate-income residents.
