Fatal Saugus Dirt Bike Accident Claims the Life of a 25 Year Old Swampscott Man – Police Release Name of Victim

SAUGUS — Police Chief Domenic J. DiMella reports that the Saugus Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Saturday evening.

UPDATE – SAUGUS — The Saugus Police Department is releasing the name of the person killed in yesterday’s fatal crash.

BENJAMIN FAGUNDO, AGE 25, OF SWAMPSCOTT died after the dirt bike he was driving collided with an SUV at the intersection of Jefferson and Newcomb Avenues at approximately 8:19 p.m., Saturday, July 1. The Saugus Police Department is continuing to investigate the crash.
At approximately 8:19 p.m., Saturday, July 1, officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Newcomb Avenue.
Upon their arrival, officers determined that a dirt bike had collided with a Nissan Pathfinder. The 25-year old Swampscott man who had been driving the dirt bike was transported to an area hospital and later pronounced dead. His name is not being released at this time.
The Pathfinder had three occupants, including two young children who were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Pathfinder was not hurt.
A preliminary investigation has determined that the dirt bike was unregistered and the driver did not possess a motorcycle license.
