Essex County Homicides UPDATE – Victims ID’ed

The Essex County District Attorney’s Office, the Essex State Police Detectives Unit and local police are investigating three fatal shooting deaths that took place over the weekend.

On Saturday, at approximately 2:18 am, Lawrence Police responded to a Burger King near Broadway and Concord Street in Lawrence for a report of shots fired.  Abdul Lopez, 35, of Lowell, was transported to Lawrence General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  Police have not identified a suspect and no arrests have been made.

On Sunday, at approximately 3:28 pm, Lynn Police responded to Spring and Exchange Streets for a report of a double shooting.  Leonardo Clement, 46, of Lynn, was transported to North Shore Medical Center in Lynn where he was pronounced dead.  Another victim, a 41-year-old man, was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital.  He is expected to survive.  Police have not identified a suspect and no arrests have been made.

Later, just before 8:00 pm, Lawrence Police responded to 22 Union Street for a report of shots fired.  They found a male and female victim suffering from gunshot wounds in the parking lot across the street from La Cava Bar.  Both were transported to Lawrence General Hospital.  The male victim, was transported to a Boston hospital and is expected to survive.  Arielis Valdez, 40, of Lowell, was pronounced dead at Lawrence General.  Police have not identified a suspect and no arrests have been made.
