Endicott Men’s Hockey (#14) Opens NCAA Play at Elmira Saturday Night – Game Preview / Notes / Links

BEVERLY — The No. 14 Endicott men’s ice hockey team (17-5-5) travels to No. 10 Elmira (19-7-1) on Saturday, March 9 for an NCAA Tournament First Round matchup at 7 PM. Here’s a preview of the contest.

TICKET/VENUE INFO

  • Tickets will be available to purchase at the Murray Athletic Center main entrance at 6 PM
  • CASH ONLY: $6 for adults, $4 for college students with ID, and $3 for children
  • Please note, there is no ATM available at the Murray Athletic Center
  • No artificial noisemakers will be allowed at Murray Athletic Center (Ice Arena), per NCAA rules and guidelines. Signs and/or posters that are made with good intentions will be permitted

  • The Soaring Eagles are 1-0-0 all-time against the Gulls; Elmira defeated Endicott, 6-5, in overtime on January 3, 2020, in game one of the W.B. Mason Winter Classic — hosted by Plattsburgh State.
  • Elmira enters Saturday’s matchup with the following NCAA ranks: No. 1 power play (.326), No. 6 scoring offense (4.15), No. 30 penalty kill (.840), No. 30 scoring defense (2.52), No. 11 scoring margin (1.63)
  • Endicott’s NCAA ranks include: No. 10 power play (.258), No. 13 scoring offense (3.70), No. 9 penalty kill (.882), No. 9 scoring defense (.200), No. 9 scoring margin (1.70)
  • The Soaring Eagles earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament following their 4-1 loss to No. 12 Skidmore in the New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Semifinals on Saturday, February 24.
  • Nicholas DomitrovicJordan Gonzalez, and Shawn Kennedy were all named to the All-NEHC Second Team for Elmira earlier this year.
