Emma Beane and Charlie Davis are October Moynihan Student Athletes of the Month

NORTH SHORE –

For their exploits both in the classroom and in their respective athletic fields, soccer star Emma Beane of Hamilton-Wenham Regional and cross country standout Charlie Davis of Manchester Essex Regional have been selected as the Moynihan Lumber Female and Male Student-Athletes of the Month for October, respectively.
Emma, a senior captain on the pitch, led the Generals with eight goals and nine assists for 17 points in October. The midfielder helped her team to an undefeated regular season (17-0-1), a Cape Ann League championship and the top spot in the Division 3 North playoff seedings. The four-year varsity performer and two-year captain is a two-time CAL First Team all-star and reigning team MVP and Salem News all-star. Her coaches describe her as a fierce competitor and outstanding leader for her teammates both on and off the field.
Academically, Emma also shines with a 4.39 grade point average on a 4.5 scale. She has received Highest Honors each semester while taking AP and Honors courses; in addition, she received first place honors in Massachusetts State History Day earlier this year while also placing first at the District History Day.
Charlie, who is also a senior, is one of the best runners in Manchester Essex history. The two-time senior captain produced the fastest 5K time in school history (16:33) this season at the Bay State Invitational. As the team’s No. 1 runner, he has kept an average pace of 17 minutes for each of his races and guided the Hornets to a 7-2 record at the Cape Ann League Baker Division crown. As the team’s fifth man last fall as a junior, he was a key performer as Manchester Essex won the Division 6 state title. His coaches say his enthusiasm for the sport and his team is unparalleled.
In the classroom, Charlie shines just as brightly. He is the proud owner of a 5.07 grade point average while enrolled in five AP (Advanced Placement) courses, in addition to an Honors French class. He has maintained an A average since his freshman year of high school. In addition, Charlie is also involved in extracurricular activities at Manchester Essex including Debate Team (as its Club President) and Co-Editor of the school’s award-winning newspaper, The Independent.
