Manchester Essex’s Graham Lewis Reflects on Golf Career, Looks Ahead to Basketball | Cape Ann Savings Bank Student-Athlete of the Week
Manchester Essex senior Graham Lewis has made his mark on the golf course and basketball court, and he’s not finished yet!
Lewis joins North Shore Sports Desk as the latest Cape Ann Savings Bank Student-Athlete of the Week to reflect on his outstanding high school golf career, including qualifying individually for the state championship and helping the Hornets finish their season with a satisfying victory over rival Rockport.
Lewis discusses the hard work and countless repetitions that helped elevate his golf game, the challenges of competing in New England’s unpredictable late-October weather and the friendships and memories he developed during three years with the Hornets golf program.
But there’s little time to rest! With golf season behind him, Lewis is turning his attention to basketball, where he’s been a multiple-time Cape Ann League All-Star and a key contributor to one of the area’s most consistently successful programs. He discusses the Hornets’ expectations for the upcoming winter, the challenge of replacing some important players and his excitement about taking on an even bigger role during his senior season.
We also get into life beyond athletics, including Lewis’ involvement in DECA, his interest in pursuing sports management or sports business in college and the possibility of continuing his basketball career at the Division III level.
And there are some terrific travel stories! Lewis shares memories of visiting Spain with his classmates and an unforgettable golf trip to St Andrews, Scotland, the historic home of golf.
From competing for championships to preparing for college and whatever comes next, Lewis has plenty to look forward to as he makes the most of his final year at Manchester Essex.
