GLOUCESTER – Gloucester City Councilor-at-Large Jeff Worthley has cited Mayor Greg Verga with “a tremendous lack of transparency” in reporting the reasons behind installing former Police Chief John McCarthy as the interim Gloucester Harbormaster. While the Mayor informed the City Council of his actions after the Harbormaster, Assistant Harbormaster, and Shellfish Warden were no longer employed by the city, there has been no explanation to the public from the Mayor’s office.
Councilor Worthley describes the situation as “a real mess.”
