Georgetown Fire Department Responds to Crash on Interstate 95

GEORGETOWN — Chief Matt McKay reports that the Georgetown Fire Department responded to a serious two-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 on Wednesday morning.

On Wednesday, Oct. 4, at approximately 10:36 a.m., Georgetown firefighters were dispatched to Interstate 95 South in the area of Route 133 for a report of a two-vehicle crash.

Firefighters arrived to discover one vehicle in the highway median and another in the woods off the right side of the highway, between the southbound onramp from Route 133 and the Route 133 overpass.

The driver of the vehicle in the woods was freed by firefighters using chainsaws and hydraulic tools. That driver was taken to Beverly Hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The driver of the vehicle in the median also was transported to Beverly Hospital. The driver’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Firefighters from Rowley and Boxford provided mutual aid, as did a Newbury Advanced Life Support Ambulance and Atlantic Ambulance.

Firefighters remained until the scene was cleared at about 12:10 p.m.

The crash is under investigation by Massachusetts State Police
