Girls Lacrosse
Hamilton-Wenham 16, St. Mary’s 7 – Grace Glidden, Hailey Ireland, and Maddie Graber led the defense in front of goalie Ava Vautour (6 saves). After briefly falling behind 2-3, the Generals charged ahead by scoring 6 goals over 7 minutes to end the half 8-3. The offense was led by Evelyn Bernard (5 goals), Emma Happel (3 goals), Avery Nistl (3 goals), Stewart Bernard (2 goals), Libby Pollard (2 goals), and Hannah Ciriello (1 goal). With the win the Generals improve to 7-4 and face Lynnfield away on Monday in a Cape Ann League matchup.
Ipswich beat North Reading 15-6. The Tigers were led offensively by Estelle Gromko (3 goals, 1 assist), Carolyn Bailey (3 goals), Halle Greenleaf (3 goals), Allie Wile (2 goals, 1 assist), Ella Stein (2 goals, 1 assist), Lyla Greenleaf (1 goal, 1 assist) and Kayden Flather. The Tigers improved to 8-1

Marblehead 10, Gloucester 5 – Marblehead and Gloucester battled back and forth for almost 5 innings but Marblehead was finally able to break open the 5-5 tie – taking advantage of some infield hits and some base on balls putting up 5 in the bottom of the 5th. Next Game for Marblehead is against Masco next Wednesday, May 10th at Seaside. Marblehead is now 6-6 on the year – 4-5 in the league.
Girls Tennis
The Hamilton-Wenham girls tennis team (8-1, 6-0 CAL) remained undefeated in the CAL and avenged a non-league loss earlier in the week with a 3-2 win over Newburyport Friday. The difference was how the girls competed in doubles in this match with Abby Simon and Sienna Gregory winning a come from behind effort, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4. Laynee Wilkins and Alle Benchoff played an amazing match at second doubles, falling 1-6, 6-3, 6-7 (2). It was Chloe Gern who put the Generals on the board first with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at 3rd singles. First doubles followed with the win giving the Generals a 2-0 lead. Newburyport remained strong and pulled off the tie-breaker win at 2nd doubles and Quinnapiac bound Caroline Schuslon won at first singles for the Clippers 6-0, 6-0. With the match tied 2-2, the Generals Naomi Provost charges her way to victory with a 6-0, 6-3 win!
