SALEM – (Videos – Photos – Podcast) #2 St. Mary’s (18-7) has advanced to the final four of the MIAA D3 boys playoffs with an 83-71 win over #7 Tech Boston (15-9) at Salem State University’s O’Keefe Sports Center. The Spartans jumped out to an early first quarter lead (9-0) and led by 11 points at the end of the first quarter (24-13). by halftime St. Mary’s had a 20 point lead. (45-25) St. Mary’s got solid play from all five starters; David Brown (27 points), Anthony D’Itria, Nick Sacco (13 points), Derick Coulanges, and Omri Merryman (12 points) The Spartans played the game’s best basketball in the first half and maintained double digit leads in the second half. (60-30, in the 3rd quarter) St. Mary’s will now face Old Rochester in the MIAA D3 state semifinals next week. Tech Boston was led by a 22-point performance from Michael DeLeon and 20 points from Hassan Jenkins. Postgame video interviews are posted below along with game photos.
