Wenham Police Officers Grow Beards to Support Parkinson’s Disease Research

WENHAM – According to Wenham Police Chief Kevin DiNapoli, the Wenham Police Department is supporting an officer’s efforts to raise money for Parkinson’s Disease research.

Each November public safety officials take part in a variety of fundraising activities. Wenham officers have chosen to support Officer Michelle Princi, who is participating in a charity boxing event on Sunday, Nov. 5. Wenham officers are donating money for the right to wear beards, which are not normally allowed.

Princi will be boxing in honor of several family members who have been afflicted by debilitating diseases for which there is no cure.

Punch 4 Parkinson’s was created by professional boxing manager Ryan Roach, who was inspired by his uncle, legendary boxing manager Freddie Roach. Freddie Roach was diagnosed with Parkinson’s several years ago. Punch 4 Parkinson’s has raised more than $1 million since 2015.

Punch 4 Parkinson’s begins at 3 p.m. at Big Night Live, 110 Causeway St., Boston.
