NEWPORT, R.I.The Endicott men’s basketball team showcased its second-half offensive attack in an 82-66 road win at Salve Regina Wednesday evening inside the Rodgers Rec. Center in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

The Gulls and Seahawks battled to a 36-36 deadlock at the break, as Endicott headed to the locker room tied at halftime for the second time in conference play this season.

Senior forward Chris Lipscomb (West Springfield, Mass.) and freshman guard Keith Brown (Pelham, Mass.) each scored a career-best 16 points as the Gulls’ offense found its groove in the second half to win by 16 points–the Gulls’ largest lead of the game in a contest that featured nine ties and 16 lead changes.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls are now 19-14 against the Seahawks in the all-time series, and have won four of the past five meetings.
  • Senior guard Max Motroni (West Warwick, R.I.) tallied a team-high 21 points, grabbed six rebounds, and dished out a tied-for-game-high four assists.
  • Motroni has five games scoring at least 20+ points this season.
  • Senior forward Daquan Sampson (Germantown, Md.) pulled down a tied-for-game-high eight rebounds to go with nine points and a game-high two blocks to be the Gulls’ leading rebounder for the eighth time this season.
  • Endicott registered a season-high 13 steals as Lipscomb recorded a career-high/game-high five of them and also grabbed seven rebounds.

FOR THE FOES

  • The Seahawks have lost three straight games.
  • Junior guard Rodney Morton (Malden, Mass.) went off for a floor-leading 27 points, while sophomore guard Isaiah Bowman (Roxbury, Mass.) chipped in 13 points off the bench.
  • Junior guard Richard Pollock (Warwick, R.I.) grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds.
  • Freshman guard Andrew Bronstein (Needham, Mass.) dished out a tied-for-game-high four assists.
  • Salve Regina led by as much as four with 15:55 remaining in the first half.

NEWPORT, R.I. — The Endicott women’s basketball team used a second half comeback effort to sneak past host Salve Regina, 64-60, Wednesday evening inside the Rodgers Rec. Center in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action.

The Seahawks led, 20-12, after one quarter of play and built a 36-24 halftime lead, as Salve Regina led by as much as 16 points with 2:50 left in the first half.

Endicott was able to erase the deficit thanks in part to a monstrous third quarter in which the Gulls scored 23 points as senior forward Sarah Hood (Burlington, Mass.) scored 10 of her career-high 19 points in 10 minutes coming out of the break.

Hood also grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds, one assist, two steals, and three blocks en route to her fourth double-double of the season to help the Gulls rally for the road victory.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls are now 13-15 against the Seahawks in the all-time series, but have won the past four straight meetings.
  • Hood now owns two of the top five spots in the program’s record book for most rebounds in a single game.
  • Junior guard Hannah Kiernan (Wenham, Mass.) and freshman guard Emily Pratt (Gardner, Mass.) joined Hood in double figures with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
  • Pratt and sophomore guard Catie Lipscomb (West Springfield, Mass.) each dished out four assists that was tied for a game-high.
  • Junior forward Sam Charette (Wenham, Mass.) pulled down a season-high seven rebounds.
  • Endicott’s largest lead of the game was a seven-point margin with 35 seconds remaining in the game.

FOR THE FOES

  • The Seahawks placed three student-athletes in double digits as freshman guard Torie Scorpio (Cranston, R.I.) led the way with a team-high 16 points, followed by 14 from sophomore guard Kerri Berland (Attleboro, Mass.) and 11 by junior guard Mary Eden (So. Kingston, R.I.).
  • Eden also dished out a team-high/game-high four assists and registered a game-high seven steals.
  • Sophomore forward Tara Burke (Londonderry, N.H.) grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
