- As part of the region’s collective response to the ongoing COVID-19 public health emergency, the Cities of Salem, Beverly, and Lynn have worked jointly to establish a temporary quarantine location for the region’s homeless population to be kept safe during the emergency. The site is located at the Salem High School field house and is opening the week of April 6th for the duration of the emergency. Residents served by Lifebridge, Riverhouse, and the Lynn Shelter Association will be located at the facility for their own protection and for the protection of the general population, to help slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. - The Salem-Ota Cultural Exchange has cancelled the Summer 2020 exchange with Ota, Japan. Read more at www.salemotace.org/?p=3799.
- Salem Public Schools are looking for temporary food service workers to prepare and serve meals to children. In these uncertain times, we are looking to help those children in need and provide some stability back into their life and ensure that the children continue to have access to balanced meals. The food service department proudly prepares 13,000 meals per week. Meals are packaged into brown bags and distributed as a grab and go style meal service at seven indoor sites and eight outdoor sites. More information and application information can be found at https://salem.tedk12.com/hire/ViewJob.aspx?JobID=1096.
- The Salem Traffic and Parking Department is posting 22 parking spaces downtown as temporary 15-minute parking for pick-up of orders at downtown restaurants. The City asks the public to help our restaurants continue to do business safely and to the greatest extent manageable by limiting parking in these locations to no more than 15 minutes. Violations may receive a ticket. Find out which restaurants are open for pick-up orders at www.salem.org/salem-small-businesses/.
