State Works to Improve Assisted Living Safety

Following the Fall River assisted living tragedy, Governor Maura Healey announced Tuesday that $5.7 million will be made available on an expedited basis to support emergency responder staffing in eligible communities. The Massachusetts Municipal Public Safety Staffing Program will provide these funds to maintain public safety and emergency response services by helping to address police and/or fire department staffing shortfalls

The Gloucester Times has named their athletes of the year. The male winner is Gloucester High baseball pitcher Brayden Francis. The female winner is Gloucester High soccer standout Skye Ciolino.
The Newburyport Daily News boys outdoor track athlete of the year is Newburyport High School’s Jalen Wise who stands 6 foot 6.
Peabody Little Leaguers will be competing in the Massachusetts State Finals this week. Peabody will take on Walpole tomorrow night at 7:30 at Harry Ball Field in Beverly.
The Greater Lynn Babe Ruth 15/16U team fell 1-0 yesterday in the New England regional tournament to Greater Sanford, Maine. The Lynn team was 3-0 in the tournament going into yesterday’s championship game.
The Red Sox lost to the Phillies again last night… 4-1. The two teams play again tonight.
The Patriot’s training camp opens today in Foxborough.
