From Generals coach Mark Cole:
This season hasn’t exactly gone the way the Generals had hoped it would. Coming off 3 consecutive losses putting their record at 1-5, the Generals decided to do something about it. Having 11 days off between games the Generals got back to basics and worked on their defensive intensity. It paid off tonight in a 31-28 win over Lynnfield. Down 12-7 at the end of the first the defense kicked in and Lynnfield was held to 6, 5, and 5 points over the next three quarters. At the end of the 3rd it was 23-21 Lynnfield but the momentum had shifted to the Lady Generals. Jane Maguire (game high 12 pts) scored the first four pints of the fourth quarter to give the Generals their first lead of the game and a lead they would hold until Sarah Cooke hit a crucial free throw for the final points. For the Generals Abby Simon had an outstanding game on the boards with at least a dozen rebounds. Kailee Whelan had 7 points and Olivia Baker chipped in with 4 points and several rebounds. Everyone contributed to the win with their play and support in the bench. Buonfiglio and Waisner led Lynnfield with 10 and 6. The Generals are right back at it Thursday with Ipswich at home
