Winthrop-Break-ins

BRENDAN WICKER, AGE 21, OF WINTHROP and PATRICK FARRIS, AGE 26, OF CHARLESTOWN were charged this month with their involvement in multiple vehicle break-ins in recent months. (Winthrop Police Department)

At approximately 8:40 a.m. on Jan. 9, Winthrop Police responded to a report of a motor vehicle break-in on Undine Avenue.

A resident reported that her unlocked car was entered overnight and that several items were missing, including a handbag with a credit card and debit card inside.

A subsequent investigation showed that someone used the victim’s credit card at an Everett convenience store to purchase and put funds onto a prepaid debit card that was later pawned at a Somerville pawn shop.

Following an investigation, the suspect was identified as WICKER.

On Jan. 17, police were able to locate WICKER at his mother’s house and took him to the police station for questioning. During their interview with WICKER, police determined they had enough evidence to charge him with breaking into four vehicles.

They also had evidence to charge WICKER’S cousin, FARRIS, and applied for a warrant for his arrest.

Several items that were believed to have been stolen from vehicles were also recovered from WICKER’S car.

Both men are expected to be arraigned at Boston Municipal Court in East Boston at a later date.

With the evidence collected throughout the investigation, the two men are believed to allegedly be involved in similar incidents in Weston, Carlisle, Lynnfield and Medford.

Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of a vehicle break-in in Winthrop or surrounding communities between October and January is asked to call Winthrop Police at 617-846-1212.
