Beverly – (Sent Monday evening) Hi. This is Mayor Mike Cahill with a Monday evening trash update. Today, Republic was able to collect most of the regular Friday routes. This means two things. 1) Tomorrow, Republic will first pick up all remaining regular Friday customers. According to Republic, they will pick up the following neighborhoods in the morning that they did not get to today: Lexington, Roosevelt, Crosby, Cabot, Swan, Mason, Lyman, Charles, and some houses on both Dodge St. and Sohier Road. If they missed your street and you didn’t just hear me read it aloud, please e-mail me at mayorcahill@beverlyma.gov and I will try to make sure they also pick up your street tomorrow. 2) All regular Monday customers should put your trash and recycling out by 7 AM tomorrow morning, and Republic will collect it all as trash. Just a reminder, the state’s Department of Environmental Protection issued a two week waiver to temporarily pick up Beverly’s recycling as trash, since significant amounts of it had been contaminated due to weeks of accumulation with no pickup. This means that your recycling and trash will all be picked up together the next time your neighborhood is collected. Again, collection remains a day delayed right now, and tomorrow the regular Monday customers will be collected. The regular Tuesday customers should not put anything out yet.
For anyone who prefers, there will continue to be dumpsters at the Standley St. compost site for recycling materials. You will need to deposit your recycling up over the side of a dumpster. The site will be open 9 AM – 3 PM Monday through Saturday this week. Thank you, All.
