Manchester by the Sea Police Chief’s Corner, September Edition

The September edition of “Chief’s Corner” is now available. Each month Chief Fitzgerald will address a topic of interest in the community or department. This month, Chief Fitzgerald shares information about the new Rave alert system. His column is available here.

Hamilton-Wenham Girls Soccer Tops Lynnfield (2-0) – Notes from the Generals,

The Generals stayed on the winning path with a victory at home against the Pioneers.  The first half remained scoreless.  Sophomore midfielder Maddie Graber had the best scoring opportunity when she placed a lofted shot over the arms of the goalie, but it caught the crossbar.  The Generals broke through with a penalty kick from junior midfielder Annie Moynihan in the 47th minute.  The Generals earned the PK when junior midfielder Georgia Wislon drove into the box at speed.  The Lynnfield defender had no chance, but to take her down to stop the attack.  In the 65th minute, sophomore midfielder Savannah Gauron finished a shot in the penalty box off an assist from Wilson.  Senior goalie Stewart Bernard earned her third shutout on her 18th birthday with 6 saves.
Defenders seniors Leah Coffey and Claire Veenema, junior Maddy Wood, and sophomore Evie Bernard slowed down the Lynnfield offense who had scored plenty of goals already this season.
The Generals (3-0-1) will take on Amesbury on the road on Friday.

The Generals were led defensively by junior Ava Day (4 digs, 2 aces), while seniors Hannah Powers and Erica Conway came in to play well off the bench.

High School Golf – Lynnfield 136, Ipswich 99 – Ipswich note, Charlie Jepsen scored 24 points to lead the Tigers but it wasn’t enough against Lynnfield.
