Update on Lynn Woods Fire – From city of Lynn – 5/17 (noon) Due to firefighting operations, the Pennybrook Road entrance to Lynn Woods will be closed to public access. At this time the northern part of Walden Pond remains closed to public access. Lynn Woods is still accessible along the Great Woods Road path.

City of Lynn – The MBTA’s contractor for the Commercial Street Bridge Replacement Project will perform roadway milling and paving on Commercial Street under the MBTA bridge. This work will take place on Wednesday, May 17, and Thursday, May 18 from 6AM through 6PM each day.

WCVB-TV’s long-time sports anchor Mike Lynch, the late and beloved Channel 7 videographer Therman Toon, the late WBZ-TV reporter, the gifted storyteller Bill Shields, as well as WBZ Radio’s heralded news reporter and “poet laureate” Carl Stevens, and Spanish music radio station entrepreneur Pat Costa will be inducted into the Massachusetts Broadcasters Hall of Fame on Thursday, June 8, along with Lesley University Communications Professor and former rock and roll DJ Donna L. Halper.

Town of IpswichSheila Taylor is retiring after 24 yrs.! The Select Board were able to express their heartfelt appreciation at last night’s meeting with a proclamation reserved for long-time, dedicated town employees. We’ll keep saying it…Thank you, Sheila! You’ll be missed!

Ipswich Girls Lacrosse – Ipswich beat Danvers 18-9 today. The Tigers were lead by Halle Greenleaf (5 goals, 1 assist) to get her to her 100th career point. The Tigers were also lead by Estelle Gromko (4 goals, 2 assists), Ella Stein (3 goals, 1 assist), Allie Wile (2 goals, 3 assists), Lyla Greenleaf (2 goals, 1 assist) and Carolyn Bailey (2 goals). Ashton Flather had 12 saves in net.

Hamilton-Wenham Girls Tennis – The H-W Generals secured their share of a second straight Cape Ann League Baker Title with a 5-0 win over Amesbury today. Picking up her first varsity win was Julia Maher paired with Sofia Montoya at second doubles 6-1, 6-2. First Singles Sky Jara and second singles Naomi Provost both won 6-0, 6-0, while Chloe Gern picked up the 6-1, 6-1 win at third singles. Completing the sweep was Abby Simon and Sienna Gregory with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at 1st doubles.

Beverly Panthers – Girls Softball, Girls Lacrosse and Girls Tennis all scoring big points with us as they help fill our Pantry shelves!  Collectively these teams donated more than 300 pounds of needed items!!… and items were really need!! We are psyched and grateful!
