Wakefield Police Looking for Man in Connection With Convenience Store Larceny

WAKEFIELD — (Photo) Chief Rick Smith reports that the Wakefield Police Department is actively looking for a person of interest allegedly involved in a larceny at a convenience store yesterday.

According to police, on Aug. 2, at approximately 1:30 p.m., an elderly man was waiting in line at the Quick Mart, 377 Lowell St., to make a purchase. As he paid for his items, he noticed a white man, who appeared to be in his 20s, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, standing behind him.

As the elderly man left the store, the man in the sweatshirt opened the door for him and followed him outside. While opening his car door, the elderly man felt a nudge above his left hip. When he got in the car, he noticed that his wallet was missing and observed the man in his W20s walking away from the area.

A few hours later, the elderly man found his wallet in his mailbox, however, $400 in cash was missing.

Wakefield Police are interested in speaking with the man in the Quick Mart surveillance photos. Anyone with information about this individual should immediately contact 781-245-1212.
