WAKEFIELD — Police Chief Steven Skory and Fire Chief Michael Sullivan report that the Wakefield Police and Fire Departments responded to a single-car rollover crash last night.
On Tuesday, July 5, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Wakefield Police and Fire were dispatched to the area of 49 Hopkins St. for a report of a crash.
Upon arrival, first responders found that a car had crashed into a tree, and rolled over, entrapping the driver. First responders also observed gasoline leaking from the vehicle. Wakefield firefighters, with assistance from Reading firefighters, freed the driver using hydraulic tools.
The driver and sole occupant, a 60-year-old Wakefield woman, was treated at the scene before being transported to an area hospital by ambulance.
Wakefield Police and Fire also received assistance on scene from the Reading Police Department.
The crash remains under investigation by the Wakefield Police Department.
